Informally assesses students referred from mainstream classes for reading, writing skills in English/ Sinhala/ Tamil languages & math competency skills.
Identification
Identifying students with specific learning difficulties in the areas of reading, writing, processing related skills, math concepts.
Formulation and implementation of IEP’s
Formulating IEP’s (Individualized education plans) aimed at meeting the learning needs of identified students. Implementing IEP goals to every student and maintaining student progress reports records.
Teach
Adapting systematic and creative methods of teaching that take into account learner styles and individual learning needs.
Collaboration
Maintaining contact with parents, class and subject teachers and professionals involved in addressing the learning needs of identified students
Co-coordinating access arrangements of form-end examinations
Organizing general or specialized support(leader/scribe/extra time) for identified students who have obtained formal assessments from educational/ clinical psychologists
Creating awareness
Meeting with class and subject leaders to create awareness of the learning needs of identified students and organizing possible classroom accommodations when required
Co-coordinating with the department of education for access arrangements for O/Ls and A/ls for identified students
