Career Guidance

The STC career Guidance resource center was set up under the patronage of the warden, Rev. Fr. Marc Billimoria, in September 2015.

The career guidance center is located on the 1ST floor of the library building and is open Monday to Friday 9am to 2pm and can be contacted on telephone number 0115219897 and on email

The career guidance counselor is Sonia Jayasinghe. Ms. Jayasinghe holds masters in social service administration from the University of Chicago, USA and has a wealth of experience placing students in post secondary education in both Sri Lanka and abroad.

The unit was setup to bring awareness to students earlier on their final years (Upper 6 to Coll. E) to think about the next step.

The center is dedicated to helping students find their desired career option/ path by helping them choose appropriate subjects for their career choice and guiding them through the University applications, and/ or professional qualifications process.

Students are encouraged to visit the center and speak with us.

The activities includes

  • Advising on subject choices in preparation for Advanced level.
  • Meeting with parents re. Subject choices vs. Careers.
  • Preparing applications, academic transcripts.
  • Preparing students for University interviews.
  • Editing essays
  • Sessions with examination classes, on request.
  • Liaising with Universities on behalf of students.
  • Host educational institutions that wish to promote their programs.
  • Work closely with the PTA in identifying the needs of the student body.
