S. Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia got off to a flying start in the 2023/2024 season, becoming the only team to progress as an unbeaten team becoming Group Champs at the end of the Group Stage of the All Island Inter School Limited Over Tournament.
During this group stage, STC played 9 games. Won 8 and 1 No Result,
achieving pole position on bonus points across all groups. Along the way, STC
defeated formidable opponents such as Richmond College Galle (by 90 runs), St. Sebastians College Moratuwa (by 61 runs), and Wesley College Colombo (by 27 Runs) among others. The only thing that came in the way of a perfect record was a rained out game against Nalanda College, Colombo.
STC is ably lead by the multi-talented sportsman Mahith Perera, who has lead from the front, making several significant contributions with the bat. The
Thomian bowling attack has stood out during this stage of the tournament, with only one team being able to cross the 200 run mark against a well balanced
attack.
The quarter-finals will take place in the coming week. The opponent and venues will be notified in due course. The Two day tournament and traditional encounters will commence from next week.
